Carolina inks C Nash to entry-level deal (AP)

The Carolina Hurricanes have signed center Riley Nash to a three-year contract. The entry-level deal announced Monday will pay Nash $550,000 next season, $600,000 in 2011-12 and $700,000 in 2012-13 at the NHL level. He will earn $65,000 per season if he plays in the American Hockey League. Nash also receives a signing bonus of $262,500. [read full article]

Brind'Amour retires, 'Canes give him job (AP)

Rod Brind'Amour is retiring after 21 NHL seasons to take an unspecified front-office job with the Carolina Hurricanes. The team's former captain said Wednesday that his decision was made simpler after he talked with general manager Jim Rutherford and they decided the aging veteran wouldn't fit with the Hurricanes' rebuilding plan.
